The Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, organized the fourth session of its Weekly Lecture Series on 11 September 2025 in Room No. G-6. The lecture on “Social Media and News: Allies or Enemies?” was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Rana, a senior academic with over two decades of experience in media education, and presided over by Dr. Sanjay Verma, OSD, DSJ.
Prof. Rana discussed the complex relationship between social media and news, highlighting both its potential for instant communication and its risks of misinformation. She emphasized the importance of responsible journalism in the digital age and urged students to critically assess media ecosystems shaped by technology. Drawing on her research in communication policy and media management, she underlined how digital platforms influence news credibility and public trust.
The Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, held the third session of its Weekly Lecture Series on 4 September 2025 in Room No. G-6. Prof. Dr. Satish Kumar, Professor of Political Science at IGNOU, delivered a lecture on "New World Order and Role of Media", presided over by Dr. Sanjay Verma, OSD, DSJ.
Prof. Kumar highlighted India’s emergence as a knowledge power, its leadership at the G-20, and commitment to green energy under the vision of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. He underlined the role of media in shaping narratives, noting biases in Western reporting, and urged students to understand global affairs through Indian perspectives and thinkers.
The session inspired students to engage critically with international relations and the media's role in presenting India's voice to the world.
The Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, organized the second session of its Weekly Lecture Series on 28 August 2025 in Room No. G-6. The lecture on "Role of Media and Education in South Asian Relationship" was delivered by Mr. O. P. Yadav, Public Relations Officer, Regional SAARC Education Centre, Kathmandu, and presided over by Dr. Sanjay Verma, OSD, DSJ.
Mr. Yadav shared his vast experience as a journalist and academic, emphasizing how media and education can serve as bridges of understanding in South Asia. He discussed their role in addressing common challenges such as poverty, migration, and climate change, while strengthening regional cooperation. The session inspired students to view journalism as a tool for dialogue and peace-building across borders.

The Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, inaugurated its Weekly Lecture Series on 21 August 2025 (Thursday), with the first session on "Life Skills: Importance of Time Management for Professional Growth."
The lecture was delivered by Shri Subhash C. Sood, Visiting Faculty (PR & Advertising), Start-up Project Consultant, and Soft Skills Trainer. His insightful address on the significance of time management for professional growth offered valuable guidance to both students and faculty.
