The two-day workshop "AI For Everyone: Tools, Skills & Ethics" was organized by the Delhi School of Journalism in collaboration with the Public Media Tech Foundation to introduce students to the role of artificial intelligence in journalism. Held on 11-12 November 2025 at Satyakam Bhawan, University of Delhi, the event began with an inaugural ceremony attended by Chief Guest Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Member of Parliament, along with Prof. B. K. Kuthiala, Chairman, DSJ, Prof. Sanjeev Singh, Joint Director, South Campus, Delhi University, and Mr. Shalabh Upadhyay, Founder and CEO of NEWJ. The speakers emphasized AI literacy, ethical responsibility, and India's growing role in AI-driven innovation.
Day 1: Understanding AI and Society
Technical sessions were followed by Prof. Uma Shankar Pandey demystifying neural networks, GPT models, and AI hallucinations, and concluded with Prof. Manu Sood addressing digital hygiene, cybersecurity, and safe online navigation across the Deep and Dark Web.
Day 2: Tools, Innovation and Future Applications
The final day focused on practical applications in research, media, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Alok Nikhil Jha from IIIT Delhi introduced the Indian innovation ecosystem and the Lean Canvas framework through an interactive start-up design activity. The program concluded with prompt engineering and creative research modules by Prof. V. B. Singh and Prof. Uma Shankar Pandey, alongside hands-on training in creative AI tools and ethical storytelling by Public Media Tech Foundation experts.
